Canada ๐จ๐ฆ v. Morocco. Well... the first half Canada looked great. Unfortunately, there are two halves in soccer. CANMNT fans have seen this before. Canada can hang for a while against the better teams...Canada doesn't take advantage of their opportunities while on the front foot the opposition hangs around until they get an opportunity, then they score. It has happened a few times with this team. It happened against Morocco. One deep foul. One set piece and it's in... Canada gets nearly the same chance and David (WTF did he do?) boots it over the net... With Canada, always should have, could have....Ifs and buts. Simply just don't have the quality of the best teams. Yes, they were missing huge players (Davies out because his leg hurt, way to suck it up for the team Captain... I guess this is a good take) or guys not at 100%... Canada had chances early and to equalize and lacked to quality to finish. This seems to be the tale in big games. David look really mediocre offensively... Tani equally meh. We need strikers who can finish or we'll never crack the top 20 ranking or lift any hardware.
Sure, it was a massive step forward for soccer in Canada and they got to the round of 16... And that is great but, man, the lack of a result is still hard to take... At least Canada kept pressing to try and get back in the game. (It didn't work and they got goals on the counter... but at least they stuck to their plan... It looked good for 45m anyway)
I'm starting to wonder if we have good enough players to win against GOOD sides with Jesse's Press. So far... no.
My Mom came over to watch the game with me which was really nice. Had some BBQ and watched a goofy movie. She took us out for breakfast. So lovely day.
Brian and Phil came over with Mad Pizza so we let them in.
