Our relationships with these big tech companies are curious indeed. They give us e-mail, wordprocessing, AI, calendars etc. and we let them pilfer all our personal data for profit and marketing. I guess it hasn't bothered me until lately... As Europe has wondered about data soverigncy against US tech, I also wondered about... And the more I thought about it the more it bothered me... I don't have anything to hide or whatever but just the thought of all my personal data being used for gawd only knows what did trouble me. So I decided to do something about it. My primary personal e-mail account has been with google for decades. It is easily the best free option available. I've looked around for a free service that won't data rape you but they don't compare to Google, how could they?! But I'm moving forward with a lesser product for more piece of mind... Slowly migrating over to proton e-mail. They have sadly nerfed the fsck out of the free account with limitations and nagging notifications to upgrade but it IS private. At this point I'll never be able to completely degoogle my life... we have google devices that I like and they all require an account, so, it won't be deleted...but I will filter more of what goes into it... ultimately it is probably nothing, but I've successfully left Windows OS to open source and couldn't be happier. So maybe it is a small step but I'm happy to take it.
It was a bit of a weird ball hockey game last night... it was tight...a one goal game the whole way until there was a very strange injury... I'm not certain what happened but a player stepped on the ball and/or his stick and rolled his ankle really badly. He described it like get a brick tossed at his leg...that obviously stopped play and ultimately ended the game... We were ahead by one at the time so we were granted the W. That W made for a three way tie for second in the final league standings... lol. crazy. Last game until September is next week.
